Family support during paediatric CI journey

A paediatric CI journey is a family project, not a parent-only project. Grandparents, siblings and primary caregivers should all be oriented.

Practical family roles: • Primary caregiver: device wear, AVT carry-over, audiology appointments. • Other parent: emotional partnership, financial planning, advocacy at school. • Grandparents and siblings: keep talking, sing, read aloud — they often spend many hours with the child. • Domestic help / nanny: must know how to put the processor back on, troubleshoot common issues. HearClear offers family-orientation sessions for new CI families.
