Hospital stay after cochlear implant surgery
Most patients are discharged 1–2 days after CI surgery. Some centres offer day-care discharge for adults; paediatric cases usually stay overnight.
Day 1 post-op: dressing change, observation for nausea, pain control, light meal. Day 2: discharge with home care instructions, wound check date, switch-on appointment. The dressing typically stays in place for 5–7 days.
Indian centres differ slightly: in tertiary government hospitals patients may stay 2–3 days; in private day-care set-ups discharge may be the same day for adults.
