Myth: CI is painful
Reality — post-operative pain after CI is typically mild and well-controlled with standard analgesics. Most patients describe more discomfort than pain.
Surgery is under general anaesthesia. Post-op, expect mild soreness around the incision, perhaps mild headache, sometimes brief vertigo. Standard oral painkillers are usually enough; opioid use is uncommon.
Wound discomfort settles within days. The dressing — and any tugging of the bandage — is often more bothersome than the surgery itself.
