Myth: therapy is not needed after CI
Reality — therapy is essential, especially in children. Adults too benefit from structured aural rehabilitation in the first few months.
A CI without therapy is one of the saddest waste-of-investment scenarios in our field. The implant gives the signal; the brain — guided by therapy — learns the meaning.
Plan for 12–24 months of consistent therapy for children, and 3–6 months of structured aural rehab for adults. The investment in therapy delivers the full value of the surgical investment.
