Phone-call practice after CI
Phone calls are commonly the hardest skill for new adult CI users — and one of the most rewarding to recover.
A graduated plan:
• Week 1–2: video calls with a familiar voice while looking at their face.
• Week 3–4: short audio-only calls with a familiar voice; ask them to speak slowly.
• Month 2–3: short calls with less familiar voices (shop, hospital).
• Month 3+: longer calls, customer service, work calls.
Direct Bluetooth streaming greatly accelerates phone-call recovery. Discuss accessories with your audiologist.
