Adult Cochlear Implant

Progressive hearing loss — long-term planning

If your hearing is slowly declining despite hearing aids, plan ahead. Discuss CI candidacy early so you are ready when the right time arrives.

Many adults have a 10–20 year journey from mild loss to CI. Building a relationship with an audiologist and CI centre early means: • Regular audiograms to track decline. • Timely upgrades to more powerful hearing aids. • Earlier knowledge of CI eligibility and funding options. • A smoother decision when the time comes. Waiting too long has costs — the auditory system benefits from continuous stimulation.
