Troubleshooting cochlear implant processor problems
Most CI processor issues are easily resolved at home — battery, cable, headpiece magnet, microphone covers. Persistent issues need an audiology appointment.
Common DIY checks:
• Battery: try a fresh battery / fully charged unit.
• Cable: replace with the spare cable.
• Microphone covers: replace if blocked by debris.
• Magnet: ensure it sits firmly against the implant.
• Apps: restart the smart app on phone.
If the device still does not work, or if you hear distorted sound, contact your CI centre. Manufacturers have local service centres in major Indian cities.
