Bilateral Cochlear Implant Programmes Grow in India
More Indian centres are now offering simultaneous bilateral cochlear implantation, supported by state schemes, insurance and CSR partners.
Bilateral CI provides better localisation, hearing in noise, and reduced listening fatigue. Funding for the second ear has historically been the barrier in India; CSR partnerships, processor upgrade programmes and expanding insurance coverage are now making bilateral CI more accessible.
