Universal Newborn Hearing Screening — Coverage Expanding in Indian States
Several Indian states are expanding universal newborn hearing screening programmes — the single most important policy step to enable early intervention.
UNHS allows hearing loss to be identified within the first weeks of life. Timely intervention before 6 months produces the best long-term language outcomes. HearClear works with paediatric clinics, NGOs and state programmes to advocate for and operationalise UNHS.
